I did all the BIOS/driver/chipset updates, I did the uninstall/install of the ACPI driver through devmgmt.msc, I did the hard reset, and I opened it to checked whether there was something not connected to a socket (it looked all fine), I've left the battery out for more than 15 minutes. For quite a few months now, my Windows 10 ASUS laptop has been saying that there is no battery detected when I click on the battery icon.

I looked for any particular "power option" or "power utility" as read in many feedbacks around the web, and I found none.

The OS (Win10) properly detects the battery, shows it on the tray, and shows it at full capacity (but not in charge). The first time this happened, we replaced the battery and it worked for awhile and then started up again so we replaced the power cord. This is definitely a change from the previous working state. Even if I allow the battery to discharge then plug in the power again, it always goes back to 100. When it is plugged into the AC adapter it does not charge the battery. In spite of the The Battery Health setting in MyAsus being set to Maximum Lifespan Mode, charging continues to 100. I prompted a battery report, and it all seems well, as well as the overall capacity compared to the factory capacity (the battery is practically new). The 2nd battery is only about a year old. In any condition, from being turned off, as well as from when it is booting to normal activity of the OS, IF you plug off the power cord, it will turn off immediately as if it didn't have any battery (and it makes the "whistle sound"). Or, if you left the laptop plugged and you press the power button, it makes the "whistle sound" like if it turned off, and then it reboots in the same fashion as said. He told me his battery never worked, and he has not updated any driver, or had any BIOS update, and so on.īasically when you plug the cord in it (without pressing any button), it makes a "whistle sound" like when you abruptly turn off your laptop holding on the power button for more than 10 seconds, then, if you press the power button, it takes some seconds and it boots. Turn on the power socket and finally my laptop can be turned on. I need to plugged to the AC without turning on the power of the socket, and press the on button on the laptop to release electric. Moreover, I think I need to gound the laptop to release the electric.

A friend of mine has been experiencing an issue with ASUS VivoBook X542UA that he bought less than a year ago, and he came to me to have it fixed. But after a week, the battery is not detected anymore.
